From the Hills of Uji
to Your Cup
We believe in transparency. Our matcha comes from one place only: Uji, Japan. The birthplace of Japanese tea culture.
Why Uji?
Uji is not just any tea-growing region. Located between Kyoto and Nara, it has been the heart of Japanese tea culture for over 800 years.
The morning mists from the Uji River, the mineral-rich soil, and the expertise passed down through generations create matcha that simply cannot be replicated anywhere else.
When you drink KYŌ-KLUB matcha, you taste centuries of tradition and craftsmanship in every sip.

Meeting Our Farmers
We traveled to Uji to meet the families behind our tea. Walking through their fields, learning their methods, and tasting batch after batch together. This is how we ensure every tin meets our standards.
These personal connections mean we can trace every leaf back to the farmer who grew it. No middlemen, no compromises. Just exceptional tea from people we trust.
The Art of Matcha
Watch the journey of our matcha. From the lush tea fields of Uji, through traditional stone grinding, to rigorous quality checks. Every step is carefully monitored to ensure you receive only the finest ceremonial grade tea.
From Leaf to Cup
The Birthplace of Japanese Tea
Uji has been cultivating tea since the Kamakura period. The unique microclimate created by the Uji River produces leaves of exceptional quality.
Shade-Grown Excellence
Our tea plants are covered 20-30 days before harvest, increasing chlorophyll and L-theanine while reducing bitterness.
Centuries-Old Technique
Each batch is slowly ground using traditional granite stone mills, preserving nutrients and creating the signature smooth texture.
From Uji to Amsterdam
We work directly with multi-generational tea farmers in Uji, bringing their ceremonial grade matcha to our cafe in the Kinkerstraat.
Authenticity You Can Trust
Direct Sourcing
We visit our farms in Uji annually, maintaining personal relationships with the families who grow our tea.
First Harvest Only
We exclusively use ichibancha (first harvest) leaves, picked in spring when nutrient content is highest.
Ceremonial Grade
Our matcha meets the strict standards required for traditional Japanese tea ceremonies.
Multi-Generational Farmers
Our partner farms have been perfecting their craft for over five generations.
